Session 31 Angels, Lesson 1 (An Introduction)

The Prophecy Project:
Session 31
WELCOME… To session number thirty-0ne of the prophecy project. This session is a continuation of my first 23 sessions, however… I am going beyond the information covered in my books…to a topic which I feel is very relevant to our days, right now….
I want to present a Biblical primer on Angels.. and how they have influenced man and our world… and how they are and will influence the end times… They’re activities are documented by the prophets and are even seen in the gospels. In this session I will limit my comments strictly to Biblical texts, and a Biblical understanding. I don’t want to confuse anyone with descriptions from any other religions or sources. I feel it’s important to know what the Bible says and what it does not say…. For example, never in scripture does it show angels as women, or as children. they are also never shown as naked or uncovered… Yet most of society sees them as women and children… The source of those views of Angels are not Biblical….
The Bible shows us several types of Angels…we see Cherubs, Seraphim, Malawks, and Nephilim….However there are many names for Angels that are associated with their Administrations… their positions and jobs before God.. Such as: Michael the Archangel ….he is an angel presiding over the other angels… in the same sense that an archbishop presides over the bishops of a church..he’s the “chief”
…Watchers they do exactly watch their title implies, they watch over and protect whatever or whoever, God assigns them to protect. They are generally know as Guardian angels, however, the term Guardian angel is not used in scripture. Watcher are usually “Malawks” and they are also called the Gibore or mighty angels. They are also used by God to execute judgment….
Princes or Principalities: These angels have authority and control over a large number of angels and responsibility over entire nations… Michael the Archangel is also seen as a prince over Israel. This is seen in Daniel chapter 12: verse 1
“And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for thy people (Daniel’s people).”
Daniel also mentions other princes and their kingdoms. except these princes are not working for God but rather are fighting against God to prevent Daniel and mankind in general from knowing end time truths. this is seen in Daniel Chapter 10:12-14 and 19-21
(12) Then he (the angel) said unto me, fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. (13) But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. (14) Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the later days: for yet the vision is for many days…. (19) And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me. (20) Then said he, knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now (after this) will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall. come. (21)But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.
We can clearly see how the angels are at war and they fight for man or against man, for God or against God….
I will cover more on this later….
There are other administrations, Thrones, Powers, and Dominions. These are all positions of higher authority within the angels, They are referenced as angels that the believer must fight with… in the spirit…spirit realm this seen in Ephesians 6:11-12:
(11) Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against Principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Now back to the types of Angels.. Cherubs…They’re not chubby fat little babies with tiny wings… a Cherub is first seen in scripture in the garden of Eden, Satan himself is a Cherub, a covering cherub. This is seen in Ezekiel Chapter 28: verses 13-16
I want to read them to you…
(13) Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and thy pipes (voice) was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created. (14) Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. (15) Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee. (16) By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
This is scriptures first angel…he fell into sin and was cast out of heaven by God….so we know that angels can sin, they are not all perfect….HOLY…This first mentioned angel was responsible for talking Eve into questioning God and eventually eating the forbidden fruit….Satan is truly an adversary of God, and willing to share his sin and misery with mankind, he did not have to tempt man to sin….he chose to! he wanted man to fall, and suffer the same fate as he is….not all angels are your friends, some despise man….they hate you because they hate God… Later in this study you will see why they hate God.
It’s worth noting that Satan the beautiful covering cherub… did not appear unto Eve in the Garden…in his angelic form.. but he used another form… he transformed himself into one of the many animals which would have been found in the garden, he did this to better deceive Eve, and it worked. So we now know that angels (at least cherubs) can appear in different forms, at will. This ability is confirmed in the new testament in 2 Corinthians 11:14
(14) And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. (phos)
Another point found in scripture… is that Satan (an angel) is a liar, and the father of lies. John 8:44 Angels are capable of deceiving and lying….They are not all Holy angels….They can and will lie to you if it suits their needs and purposes. We are also told in Colossians 2:18 not to be beguiled into worshipping of angels.

The next reference to angels in scripture is also to Cherubs, it’s found in Genesis chapter 3:24 God assigns cherubim…at least two… to guard the tree of life from Adam after his fall…
(24) So he (God) drove out the man (Adam); and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
These angels are strong warriors and capable of deterring and repelling any threat coming into the garden. they are not little children with tiny wings.
Another type of angel is the “Malawk” virtually every reference to angel or angels in the old testament is this Hebrew word Malawk, it means; dispatched angel, messenger, ambassador and sometimes teacher.
I want to show you an example of a malawk from the old testament book of numbers Chapter 22. It is the story of the prophet Balaam and how he is confronted by a malawk as he travelled to confront the nation of Israel, he was to curse Israel so they could not enter their land. God had made it clear beforehand that Balaam was not to go do it.
(22) And God’s anger was kindled because he (Balaam) went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him. (23) And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way. (24)But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side. (25) And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall: and he smote her again. (26) And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left. (27) And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam’s anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff…..
(31) Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he (Balaam) bowed his head and fell flat on his face. (32) And the Angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me: (33) And the ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and saved her alive. (34) And Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again.
There are a lot of truths about angels (malawks) we can glean from this account. First, angels can be present but not seen, invisible. Second, they can be made visible if the Lord desires to, you can see angels sometimes. Third, they can (or do) carry weapons and are capable of killing someone. There are other biblical accounts where angel kill men in battle. Fourth, animals, like the ass, can see angels when we can’t, The ass was acting strange because of the presence of an angel.
Next: Seraphim…Two biblical accounts of seraphim are found in scripture the first is in Isaiah chapter 6 verses 1-3
I (Isaiah) saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. (2) Above it (the throne) stood the seraphims: each had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. (3) And one cried unto the other, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
We are not given extensive (detailed) descriptions of the Seraphim, but, we can glean much from this account. First of all.. they are in the throne room of God, and thus must be holy. they could not be in God’s presence if they were not kadosh…holy…separated unto God.
Secondly they can speak..and cry out holy is the Lord of hosts (armies) angel hosts. the fact that they can converse in language is also see in verses 6-7 of the same account.
Then flew one of the seraphim unto me (Isaiah), having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: (7) And he laid it upon my mouth and said, lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thy iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.
Thirdly they have six wings… with which they cover their face, feet and fly. They cover their face from the direct glory of God. their legs and feet are covered out of humility, and they are also able to fly like a bird in heaven, this is mobility.
There is a second account of Seraphim in the presence of God. This found in Revelation chapter 4: verses 6-8
(6) And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four creatures full of eyes before and behind. (7) And the first creature was like a lion, and the second creature like a calf, and the third creature had the face as a man, and the fourth creature was like a flying eagle. (8) And the four creatures had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.
These four creatures are seraphim they are around the throne of God and are doing the same thing as Isaiah’s seraphim….they cry Holy, holy, holy….and they have six wings….but we are given much more information about them….not all seraphim look alike! some have the face of a man, some look like lions, some look like calfs, and some like an flying eagle….John describes these seraphim as resembling animals which we find on earth..but we should understand that the seraphim were created long before the animals on earth…and therefore actually eagles resemble some seraphim…or lions resemble some seraphim…but only in part.. the seraphim have many eyes and lions don’t have wings….or do they?? I’ll get into that next session.
Nephilim: These are actually half Malawk and half man. These are hybrid angel/human. The word Nephilim means giant and the account of Genesis chapter 6 tells us that the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were fair; they took them wives of all which they chose. and they went in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children unto them. These children were giants and lead to God’s judgment of the old world which was before the flood. God says that the old world had become corrupt and therefore I will destroy them.

..Stop here..
I need to close this session at this point, but next session I want to cover more details about angels and their end time activities. I will also use some information about angels from the book of Enoch….I think you’ll find it interesting.
Thank you.
