The Prophecy Project:
Session 8
WELCOME… To session number EIGHT of the prophecy project. Last session I covered Ezekiel chapter 17 the Riddle of the great Babylonian eagles. We saw that the riddle covers Israel’s future from the Babylonian captivity, through the Jewish Diaspora, and continues to the restoration of Israel to the their land. In other words from Ezekiel’s day all the way to our time right now. Two great eagles are seen, the first one is defined as neo-Babylon and comes into Israel and takes them to Babylon. The second great eagle is the destination of end time emigration of the Jewish people, it is identical to the first eagle in definition, but we are not given the end time name. Throughout the previous sessions we found that there are two Babylon’s, one old historic, and the other is the daughter of Babylon or lady of kingdoms, which will exist at the end of the age. This sequence when applied to the riddle would indicate that the 2nd eagle is also called Babylon. All the information given in the riddle is defined and revealed, except the name of the 2nd great eagle, This is the mystery of the riddle. But we do know that the nation will be symbolized by an eagle.
when the angel of Revelation 17 shows John the great whore, she is called “Mystery” or the “Mystery of Babylon the great” I believe that when the angel said “Mystery,” he is keying us back to Ezekiel 17, to the “Mystery” of the 2nd great eagle, that had never been revealed, meaning that these are both the same Babylon.
Before you say to yourself, he’s really stretching things, let me show you an example of this.
in Revelation chapter 11:3-4 And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophecy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth, (4) These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
This is a simple statement as to the two olive trees, it appears that John and you and me are supposed to know who the two olive trees are. We are given no explanation as to their identity.
you won’t know from Revelations alone, who they are, you must study the old testament prophets to get any understanding. In this case the prophet is Zechariah, in chapter 4 verse 1-14. Zechariah is shown a vision of heaven and he sees two olive trees and he asks the angel, what are these? and angel says ,you don’t know? and Zechariah answers no. Then the angel begins talking about other things, about Zerubbabel and things he would do. these things do relate to the olive trees, but it doesn’t answer his question, so Zechariah asks him again, and again the angel say you don’t know? and Zechariah says no. And finally the angel says: these are the two anointed ones, that stand by the LORD of the whole earth.
So when we read Revelations we know that the two olive trees are the personification of the Holy Spirit sent from God’s throne to give people one last chance to receive God and repent.
the two witnesses continue for 1260 days, 42 months, 3.5 years. and are then killed. and are left to rot in the street in Jerusalem. while the people of the world rejoiced and partied ,But after 3 and one half days the Spirit of life entered them and they stood on their feet, and were called directly to heaven and everyone saw them leave, needless to say the party stopped, and they were terrified.
To return to the riddle of Ezekiel this end time Babylonian eagle will play a major role for God’s people Israel, it will be their home of choice until the East wind of God begins to blow.
We will now look at America’s symbolism, I want to start with the Capitol building in Washington D.C. The term D.C. stands for the District of Columbia. the name Columbia is: America personified as a Woman. The city is the “district of the woman” you will see why as we continue.
The Capitol building is neo-classical in design, meaning revived Roman and Greek architecture, it is built consistent with that tradition, and since most people are not knowledgeable about it I will give some basic instruction. I want to quote a book called “Prolegomena to the study of Roman art” by author Otto Brendel. Prolegomena means “preliminary statements” you need to understand these principles before you study individual works.
“The resort to Allegory reflects a desire to expand the reach of art beyond the visible and tangible reality of things into the realm of the invisible: of ideas, notions, sentiments. It aims at connotations and veiled meaning behind the obvious data of sense. As a method of visual art. allegory has the power to express abstractions and to instruct; at the same time it may foster a sense for the arcane. in either way, it appealed to inclinations which were deeply imbedded in the Roman intellectuality, as they were of old in the Roman religion… These complexities of art which turned their images into media of direct communication with the vagrant workings of the spirit. Their effective principle- The Cryptic Vision – was not reserved for the allegorical embodiment of political ideology alone.”
The Romans used their art as a means to communicate with the spirit realm, and also as a tool to instruct the viewer on spiritual realities. On the surface the art seems to only be visually skillful. However, once you learn how read the symbols and their allegories, much can be learned. Most of the symbolism on the Capitol building is done in this way, Cryptic Allegories are used throughout.
The exterior symbols are mostly found in the pediments, the triangular area over the porticos (entrance doors), the east side of the capitol has three porticos, looking east the far left portico is for U.S. house of representatives, and to the far right is the U.S. senate portico. and at the center is the central entrance. Also atop the dome is statue which we will examine.
There are two terms found associated to the capitol symbolism, that I need to mention. “Genius” it literally means “the presiding spirit” it can be in the title, or shown in the art as a nude youth. also “apotheosis” which means to “deify” or “exalt as a God”. apo, means to raise, and Theos, meaning God.
Before I speak to meanings of the symbols, I will give descriptions from the book “The Outdoor Sculpture of Washington D.C.” by: James M. Goode.
We will start with the center portico It is titled, “the Genius of America”
“at the apex is armed America accompanied by the American eagle. She holds a spear and supports a shield inscribed: “USA” Beneath the shield is a pedestal bearing the wreathen inscription “July 4, 1776.” to the right of America is hope with the customary anchor. Justice stands opposite Hope with a pair of scales…”
This is what we know:
(1) The spirit presiding over America is a WOMAN.
(2) The eagle is also a presiding spirit over America. The eagle is on the same raised platform.
(3) America (the woman Columbia) is lifted up in a position honor.
The Progress of Civilization, on the Senate portico.
James M. Goode, “The central figure represents America standing on a rock, against which beat the ocean waves. she is attended by the American eagle; The sun rising at her feet symbolizes the enlightenment of progress.”
again we see the woman America and the eagle as the two primary symbols of America. She is seen as the pinnacle of civilization and the latest in the progression. Civilization started in Babel and has progressed through time to our day, she is currently the “hindermost”. The rising sun seen at her feet relates to the highest pagan deity “the sun” from whom all pagan doctrine and authority comes. I don’t believe that the pagans actually worshipped the sun itself, but rather the god who looked like the sun, the sun like god. To the Babylonians he was “Bel”, and in the Hebrew scriptures he is Heylel, Lucifer, brightness, the light giver, He is the source of the enlightenment referred to in above description. The scriptures say that to honor him is an abomination to God.
next: Apotheosis of Democracy, house of representatives portico.
James M. Goode, “At the center of the pediment is armed peace protecting the youthful figure of genius,, who nestles at her feet. Peace is wearing a long mantle beneath which can be seen a breastplate and coat of mail. Her left arm rests on a buckler, which is supported by the altar at her side, while her right arm is extended over the head of genius”
By including the figure of Genius in the pediment the sculptor is telling us that the woman at the center is the presiding spirit over America’s democracy (Government). The term apotheosis means to exalt it a God, or to the level of the divine. This may sound absurd but the sculptor, at the unveiling referred to the capitol building as a Temple of democracy.
Next: “Freedom” Located atop the capitol dome.
James M. Goode, “The figure is that of a woman in flowing draperies, bearing tools of defense. in her left hand she holds a wreath and shield, while her right hand clutches a sheathed sword. Her clothing is gathered at the waist by a buckle inscribed: “U.S.” The helmet is topped by an eagle’s head. Freedom stands on a globe in symbolic vigilance over the world; around the sphere is the inscription “E Pluribus Unum”- “One Out of Many.”
This Woman is America, her name is written on her buckle “U.S.”, we also find the other symbol of America, the eagle, depicted on her head. She is seen as being over the whole earth, just like the Lady of kingdoms, standing over the mingled peoples, woven together into one nation.
Now I want to go into the interior of the capitol.
The title is: “Liberty” and is located in Statuary Hall.
At the center of the group is a woman; she is identified as America by the attending American eagle, and the twelve stars on her crown. The eagle is located to her right. to her left is a broken column with a serpent coiled around it. The serpent and column are symbolic keys to this piece.
in the book -the two Babylons- Alexander Hislip shows what appears to be a medallion, the representation is probably an old wood cut. The stump in the center is explained as the dead stump of Nimrod, The serpent is named “Heleos” which means the sun, the serpent is another symbol for the sun god Bel, and Bel is the scriptural one called Lucifer. Heleos is seen in pagan symbolism as the source of pagan resurrection and life. Next to the broken stump (to the right) is a growing new tree which is the offspring of the stump. On the other side is a cryptic symbol which confirms the identity of the tree.
The interpretation of the medallion is: Nimrod’s Babylon will die and appear dead, but will be revived by lucifer at some point in the future.
So, back to the capitol: We find Heleos wrapped around a broken or dead nation (column) and the new nation or offspring is revealed at the center and the eagle at the her right side confirms her identity.
The interpretation of this sculpture is: America is the daughter (offspring) of Babylon, and she is symbolized by the eagle and woman.
The symbolism is much to precise to be just chance, So how did the designers know what to put in the symbols? next session will cover this.
I want to now go to government buildings around Washington DC to show you that the woman is not just on the capitol.
ARS BONI means: The good of the state. located on the department of justice.
The center of the is a woman which represents the state. The state is of course America. The nude youth indicates that the woman is the presiding spirit.
Columbia Located at the departmental auditorium central pediment.
James M. Goode
“the central figure is the seated female Columbia. An eagle, also symbolic of the united states, is located her right side; a nude youth stands at her left; the rays of the sun reach up from behind her.”
again this is a spiritual statement and confirms the other pediments showing the woman “America” and the “eagle”.
when I first walked through Washington D. C. I felt like I was in Rome or Athens, like I had left America and returned to some earlier age, some pagan capitol. I found little or no reference to the God of the bible.
Amazing. Our capitol does not honor God symbolically.
I want to close this session at this point, but we will go back inside the capitol and look deeper into its symbols, and will look at the corner stone and why it is directly ties to Babylon.
Thank you.
