What is a Shulamite?

In the Biblical book “Song of Solomon”
a story is told of a young woman who
is taken against her will from her
home and the young man she loves.
She is sent to Jerusalem to become
one of Solomon’s wives, but she
steadfastly resists Solomon and waits
for her beloved to come and take
her away. This young woman is called
the Shulamite. This story is seen as an
allegory of the Christian believer waiting
for Christ, our beloved to call us home.
